as i'm gonna be fishing theale soon i've been thinking about purchasing a decent throwing stick,
now i'm pretty cack with throwing sticks but as it's a good way of getting your bait out there i was gonna spend a bit of money on one and get used to it..
the dilemma i had was buying a stright one or curved hmmmm
as i've been shite with curved ones i was looking at straight ones now i found one a fox carbon throwing stick on e-bay up for bidding ,
on looking at it i thought hang on i'm sure one of my old poles would be simular to that ..
so i set about rooting around my attic looking through my selection of old and broken poles (in which doing so i found that ruc for ya jess lol)
i found an old zebco margin pole which as most match anglers will know margin poles are very strong carbon..
i decided on the top 5 section to mutilate,
hacksawing the end off to make a tapered section from 32mm butt upto around 24mm top section which is reinforced aswell..
then i found an old esp pva mesh tube with a fluted end which fitted in mint and tidied the end off nicley with a few wraps of tape in the right place i inserted it in it was perfect i used a bit of high bond glue to set it in and now the hadle section is neat and reinforced.
then i used (you'll laugh at this) a handcream bottle top and glued that in the butt so to stop the boilies falling out lol.
i then taped (temporarily till i get some better grip material) 6" of the handle just for a grip..
took it up the local park land by me with a handful of boilies and let rip,
excuse my french but fook me sideways all stright as a die and actually in a group of around a 15ft circle and i'd say around 60-80 yrds away and that was just taking it easy ....
these are now on sale and as the diawa one retails around £125 i'll do these for ya at the snip price of £120
pic: look a little crude but further developments as they come:
