I sat on oxlease for a day once upon a time with fish smashing about all over me, i changed everything and tried just about every rig imaginable but only got liners
i had leadcore on after being told by a so called linear legend that it was a must have due to the very uneven gravel lakebed
when i took it off and used flouro leaders i started catching and then couldnt stop
i had a silly amount of fish that week LOL
some legend LOL

Try using a clear mono or a flurocarbon mainline if you can afford it try X-line or Krystonite fish it straight through but putty it down with putty.
Good Luck Jac Stew

Good Luck Jac Stew On B1 you may well be looking for every yard you can get, flouro mainline is not conducive to distance, try a 8 or 10lb mainline with a 30ft flourocarbon leader, with a slack line a 20lb x-line leader will be pinned down under its own weight and you will get the best of both worlds. Also no need for putty imo, it will cut your distance down considerably but it can only help pin all your shit down i guess

Yes that is correct i fished Brasenose 1 las winter and the boys i was speaking to were saying that they were using 6-8lb line with a leader and smashing single hookbaits over a 130 yrds cos thats where the carp were.
Jac stick to what you know mate if your fishing a comp you got to be confident in what your using don't go changing your rigs fish with what you know has caught you fish in the past if your struggling tweak a few things such as your length of hair or your length of hooklink.
Brasenose1 has alot of fish in there mate try using maggotts to get em competing for your bait, another little edge is to try an get hold of some Castors dry them out so they become quite dark then glug them in a mainline syrup and lake water add a little bit of halibut Groundbait when you spod this out it should flutter very slowly cos of the syrup being quite thick through the water and hopefully pull fish from all layers onto your bait.
All the best mate Stew
